Ernest, further studies

January 1952 to December 1953

In 1952 and 1953, Ernest obtains good marks in both parts of the “baccalaureat” (examination giving entrance to the university).

He takes part in the “Fondation Nationale des Bourses Zellidja” contest : after two study trips in Israel and Berlin, he becomes an award winner of this Foundation. This is a fantastic and very selective, both educational and human, experience for high school students. They have to choose a study subject to be done in a region or a country during a one month holiday, being on their own and with a low budget. A detailed report must be written. Every year, they are 1000 candidates, 250 projects are accepted and 50 reports are selected to authorize a second study trip. After the second report, one is entitled to become an award winner. In 1953, Ernest begins to study at the Paris University, the Sorbonne.

Simultaneously, he studies classical ballet with Mrs Preobrajenska, former prima ballerina of Russian ballets.

He receives a study grant and is also helped by his parents.
